Volunteers are the heart and soul of Saving One Life Animal Rescue and Sanctuary! We literally would not exist without the hard work and loving dedication of our Foster and Adoption Center Volunteers!
Volunteering with Saving One Life is a rewarding and emotionally positive experience. Please join our volunteering team and you can personally make an impact on the lives of our kitties.
Adoption Center Locations
We partner with multiple PetSmart adoption centers and also Kitty Pause Kitty Café in Mesa. We need you and the kitties need you to care for and love on them.
- You choose your location and the days/time you would like to volunteer
- Letting kitties out of their kennel for playful interaction and cuddles with you
- Cleaning of kennels (food/water refreshening & litter box cleaning)
- Showing cats to potential adopters and interacting with the public, as needed
Please make note that volunteers must be 18 years of age; otherwise they need a chaperone. We provide training, volunteer shadowing, and ongoing support to our Center Volunteers.
If you have the time and are interested in becoming a volunteer with Saving One Life please complete our Volunteer Application. Also consult our current adoption center locations to make sure we are at a location convenient to you.
Foster Family Volunteers
Our Foster families are essential to our success as a rescue. Volunteer Foster families are the reason we have been able to rescue so many at-risk animals on a comparatively shoestring budget.
Every animal we save is placed in a loving foster home to prepare for adoption. We provide training and ongoing support to our Foster families. We also provide for food, litter, supplies and veterinary care for the foster animals we place.
Our Foster families provide a safe and loving environment to prepare rescued and often traumatized animals for adoption. Depending on the vetting of the animal, age or needs, commitment can range from two to eight weeks. Initial training and continued education is provided along with a mentor to guide you along the way.
If you are interested in becoming a Foster Family and helping us save more animals, please submit your foster family application online.
Colony Cat Care / TNR
We participate in TNR (Trap/Neuter/Return) across the Phoenix Metro area. We always need help in all aspects of trapping: night trapping, overnight hold, transport, returning and release.
We provide nightly feedings at dozens of community cat colonies in the east valley in Arizona. We are always in need of dedicated individuals to help feed these stray / feral felines in need. Food is provided.
If you can donate a few hours per week to feed Colony Cats, or would like to help us during TNR events then please apply and we’ll match you with colonies that best align with your availability and location.
Together, we can do great things. To increase our impact, we work with organizations that share the same goal, to save those animals in need. We work with Save a Stray Animal Foundation to help provide nightly feedings to Chandler community cats.
We work with Yuma Animal Protection and Reporting by intaking cats they have saved from a life outdoors when they are meant for indoor living.
We partner with a variety of shelters in Arizona to reduce the number of cats and dogs euthanized as well as cats that are forced to be returned to their colony despite being adoptable (Return-to-Field).
